appearance
Short black hair with white streaks appearing at his widow's peak, Takashi is a tall, broad-shouldered man who looks a little like what might happen if a volunteer firefighter dressed like a speed biker. His smile comes easy and warm, and grins are few enough to be brilliant when they occur. He holds himself with an easy confidence, though something in his body language speaks to an Awareness of His Surroundings in a way that implies past trauma.
When the shirt comes off, it may be a surprise (or not) to find his back, chest, and arms seamed with a number of scars. They're all old, and he doesn't seem to really notice them anymore, but this wasn't just a fight with a particularly boisterous doggo. Plus, of course, there's the pricy prosthetic that replaces his right arm from the bicep down. It's usually covered, but he doesn't hide it per se, so it's not too hard to get a look at the retro futuristic silver metal.
He also has a cute butt!

background
Born to a Japanese mother and American father, Shiro grew up swiftly and with a strong base of morals and work ethic. His father, in the U.S. Army, died overseas when he was six. His mother, an artist, took ill when he was eight, and recovered. But every winter it came back, and when he was 16, she passed away.
On his 17th birthday, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. No one could best him in flight maneuvers, so he rose to the top of the fighter pilots. At 32, his plane was shot down, and he lost his co-pilot in the crash. He was captured and held as a prisoner of war until he was able to escape and was rescued. In the process, his right arm was severed at the elbow. Returning to the U.S., he was given medical care, recovered, and was fitted for a prosthetic. His friends state-side helped pitch in for a really nice one.
However, his mental health was poor enough that the Air Force put him on desk duty for a few years and finally discharged him honorably.
Between the ages of 34 and 39, Shiro has split his time between volunteering at animal shelters, running a prosthetics-users support group, working as a mechanic on a local airfield, and taking long cross-country road trips on his newly restored motorcycle.
